About Buttercup
I started Buttercup because I couldn't find a bra I liked. My underwired ones were soooo uncomfortable, and all the comfy ones were ugly and beige.
So I decided I wanted to make some better bras. I registered the company, my friend Chloe came up with the name Buttercup, and I got started.
We now make undies and clothing too. Our basic idea is that we want to make really comfy, every day undies but just a little cuter and more whimsical (and higher quality!) than what you might have found at the store.

Our Factory
Our factory is located in Izmir, Turkey. It is run by the incredible Şahika, who is the busiest woman I know. She is the Chairwoman of the Izmir Women's Business Association, Vice President of the Italian Chamber of Commerce (she speaks fluent Italian and Spanish!) as well as being involved in approx one million other organizations. She has been working in this industry for over 30 years, so she is very involved in our product development. I basically will do anything she tells me to lol. She also has an adorable dog, Bimbo.
Our Fabric
Starting Buttercup has been a journey of learning about materials and where our clothes come from. Most underwear is made from synthetic fibers (mostly plastic), or non-organic cotton. For many reasons, neither of these were options for Buttercup. Our bras and underwear are made of 95% organic cotton and 5% elastane, which is better for you, for the environment, and for workers in our supply chain.
